Scope and Contents This letter was written by Charles E. Waters from Baltimore, Maryland on February 21, 1866 to Robert E. Lee. Waters describes how the ladies of Baltimore are organizing a fair to raise funds for the relief of southerners affected bt the Civil War. He requests, at the suggestion of his wife, that Lee send a set of his autographs to be sold at the fair to raise money for their cause.
