Content Description

This collection includes a photograph and accompanying negative of Dr. A. Nash Johnston. Johnston was born in Tazewell County, Va. lived and practiced medicine in Richmond and Goochland County, Va. He moved to Rockbridge County about 1890, where he practiced medicine, served as a state Senator from his district, and from 1900 - 1904 served as the Superintendent of Schools for the county. A. Nash Johnston was the son of Virginia novelist Mary Johnston.

Scope and Contents

This collection is an AMS notebook (120 p.) that contains clippings, financial reports, reports of teacher examinations, and lists of school committees. The notebook contains records from 1870-1876.
