This collection includes 35 items relating to a proposal to hang portraits of Cyrus, Leander, and Robert McCormick in the Rockbridge County Courthouse, including a memorandum from Cyrus Bentley II dated January 6, 1912 and copies of memoranda and correspondence from William A. Anderson, William G. McDowell, and other parties.

Scope and Contents From the Collection: This collection primarily contains a series of memoranda, correspondence, newspaper articles, and transcripts regarding William Gladstone and his service to the state of Florida. In addition, the collection included a book showcasing Gladstone’s judicial activism, and has since been transferred within the Special Collections Department. Scope and Contents This collection consists of four broadsides offering land for sale at public auction as ordered by the Circuit Court of Rockbridge County from 1874-1885. Commissioners executing these sales were: J.G. Steele, W.P. Houston, S.H. Letcher, C.A. Davidson and W.P. Hanger. Litigants and defendants in the associated Circuit Court cases include: E.S.
