There are two volumes of carbon copied letters from Francis Thomas Anderson Junkin to many notable Lexington, Virginia families as well as several photographs and pamphlets.
Red House, 1956 - 1958
This folder contains a report on Red House, a home near Fairfield on the west side of Route 11. The report covers the history of the house and its inhabitants, including the McDowells, the Treavys, the Laymans and the Alexanders; information about the physical house, landscaping, and the McDowell Burying Ground, farm, and orchard; and photographs of the house and surrounding land. Also contained is a newspaper (Lexington Gazette) article about Red House and the McDowells.
Robert Alexander Legal Papers
This collection contains a deed, dated August 13, 1747, for a tract of land near the town of Greenville, Augusta County, Virginia, conveyed to Robert Alexander from William Beverley and two legal papers connected with the deed. There is also an authorized English Bible, 1766, with Robert Alexander's signature. Genealogical information by George Diehl is housed in the control folder.
