Scope and Contents This collection came from the estate of Ellinor Gadsden in 1985. Highlights of the collection include the letters of Alexander Swift(Sandie) Pendleton, a Washington College graduate who was a top aide to Thomas Jonathan "Stonewall" Jackson during the American Civil War. Scope and Contents

This collection consists of three letters addressed to Jane and one to Gordon. One addressed to Jane, dated 1879, is from her brother-in-law William Pendleton; it consoles her on the death of her long-time husband. The one to Gordon is from A. W. Pendleton in Warsaw, Virginia.
