Attended University of Virginia, Member 3rd Company of the Richmond (Va.) Howitzers and Ordinance Officer on staff of General John Echols during American Civil War. At Washington College (Va.)as Librarian, proctor, clerk of faculty, 1867-69; Washginton College Treasurer, 1868-69; Attended Union Theological Seminary. D.D., Presbyterian Minister in Savannah Georgia. President of Westminster College in Missouri. Washington College Trustee, 1888-1922.
