Biography

From Greenville, Augusta County, Virginia. Attended Washington College in Lexington, Virginia. Became general officer in the Confederacy's Army of Northern Virginia during the Americna Civil War. Was financial officer and agent for Washington College then Washington and Lee University during and after Robert E. Lee's tenure as president of the institution.
