Biography

William C. Folkes was the son of Virginia senator Edward J. Folkes. He enlisted in the Confederate Army at the age of sixteen and fought at the first battle of Manassas and the battle of Malvern Hill. After the war he graduated from UVA with a law degree. Afterwards he served as a lawyer and eventually a judge of the Tennesee Supreme Court.
