Biography

B.S.; Ph.D.; William Brown was an alumnus of Washington and Lee University, who later taught at the university. He was a Robinson Professor of Chemistry and Geology in 1886 and a Bayley Professor of General and Applied Chemistry from 1888-1894. He also served on the institution's Board of Trustees from 1853-1894. See Crenshaw, TS, II, 203-204.
