Biography

Victor Herrick "Buzz" Hanson was born on June 11, 1933 in Los Angeles California, but spent much of his young life in Yorklyn, Delaware. He graduated from Washington and Lee University in 1956. While at Washington and Lee he was the President of the Publications Board and served as representative from the Southern Collegian in 1956, and was a member of the Christian Council, Forensic Union, Cold Check Committee, Assimilation Committee, Omicron Delta Kappa, and a brother of Sigma Nu. Following Washington and Lee, he served in the U.S. Navy and was a real estate developer in California for many years before his death at age 72 on December 8, 2005.

This scrapbook contains images relating to campus life including images of student activities and campus events from 1953. Of specific note is the inclusion of images related to Hanson's life as a member of Sigma Nu as well as when Alben Barkley passed away while speaking on campus on April 30, 1956.
