Riegel's collection of government reports center around the effectiveness in developing and implementing propaganda addressed to the Axis powers and neutral and liberated countries. Reports tend to focus on one aspect of propaganda ranging from understanding the target audiences culture, to forms of counterpropaganda used by enemy forces.

The Journalism Department's course on communications law focused on the legal developments regarding the freedom of the press. Course topics ranged from copyright, to libel, to privacy, to climate, to the Freedom of Information Act, and courtroom procedures.
