Scope and Contents This file consists of a contract for locks between the James River and Kanawha Company and James Jordan, dated November 26th, 1835. The contract also includes specification for locks, articles of agreement, and a signature by James Cabell. The file additionally includes a letter to John Jordan from W.P. Munford noting that a lock contract has been voided (dated October 3rd, 1830). Finally, the file contains a page of handwritten notes on financing for the lock, as well as participant investors.
Scope and Contents This collection consists of four broadsides offering land for sale at public auction as ordered by the Circuit Court of Rockbridge County from 1874-1885. Commissioners executing these sales were: J.G. Steele, W.P. Houston, S.H. Letcher, C.A. Davidson and W.P. Hanger. Litigants and defendants in the associated Circuit Court cases include: E.S.
