Scope and Contents This collection contains principally business and family correspondence of Jacob, Joseph, and John Baer. Includes land maps, indentures, wills, militia fines, bills and receipts. Also included are a German family Bible (l744) and other genealogical materials, some relating to the Decker and Hite (Heyt) families, as well as two farming account books of Joseph Baer, 1853-1859. The collection mainly concerns the sale, rental, and inheritance of the Baer property.

Plat Map and Land Survey by William Paxton for James Willson

The survey includes the names William Cunningham, Jonathan Poague, Rueben Grigsby, and Thomas McFarland, whose lands border the Willson property. The North Fork of the James River and Mill Creek are also mentioned in the survey.
