Scope and Contents Thirty-seven color snapshots of scenes from the aftermath of flooding of Buena Vista, Virginia in August 1969. The rains that led to the extensive flooding within particular areas Central Virginia along the Blue Ridge Mountains were from the remnants of Hurricane Camille which had made landfall on the Mississippi coast days before.
Content Description Teeny Dudley was a well-known local personality in Buena Vista, Va. The image shows Dudley smiling as an older woman, with a bandolier of blank rifle ammunition around her neck. The image is a photocopy.

Scope and Contents Scrapbooks contains approximately 150 photographs and newspaper clippings (all annotated by Kirby) on the Camille Flood of August 1969 (photographs include Nelson County and Buena Vista, Virginia) and approximately 170 photographs of the construction of the Route 11 corridor bypass around the City of Lexington, Virginia.

Mark Jones about the night of the hurricane; three copies of a report titled "Reaction of Flood Victims in Rockbridge County, Virginia" by a Washington and Lee class in Research Methods and Politics and Sociology; and a poster advertising the 50th anniversary commemoration of Hurricane Camille.
