This collection consists of a single 8 x 6 photograph of eleven Confederate veterans standing in front of a home in Romney, West Va. The veterans are identified, and included is the inscription from the reverse of the original photograph. It says, 'Entertained at the home of John J. Cornwell and wife in honor of J. D. Parsons and his ex-confederate comrades, March 1915.'

This collection consists of seven one year contracts between Abraham Lovell, curator of William Ackerly's (deceased) estate, and individuals for hire of enslaved persons, Rachel, Fanny, Nancy, James Alexander, Elisha, and Caroline with her three children. Each contract includes the name of the enslaved person, dates for her/his hire, the cost, and the name of the leasee. A contemporary copy of a late 19th century photograph of James Marshall Hanger (November 12, 1833 – August 26, 1912). Hanger was an Augusta County (Va.) and served in the Civil War and later in the Virginia House of Delegates. He was Speaker of the Va. House of Delegates from 1871 until 1877.
