This collection consists of correspondence from Frank M. Cockrell during his time as a student at Washington and Lee to his mother and his brother, Alexander. He writes about his classes and examinations, health, and the weather. Included are report cards, proficiency certificates, and his diploma from Washington and Lee University.
This is an early Washington and Lee University report card, dated March 1871, which reports on John W. Marshall, who was a member of the class of 1874.
This collection includes 34 letters, 1865-1870, written to his father while Thom was a student at Washington College, four letters to Thom from various correspondents, college grade reports and programs, and other printed material.
