Scope and Contents This collection consists of a diary kept by Frank Smith Reader between March-June 1864. This letter by James Dabney McCabe is addressed to Robert E. Lee. McCabe asks permission to write about Lee's actions during the American Civil War. He includes that as an ex-cadet of Virginia Military Institue, he published "A Life of Lieut. Gen. T. J. Jackson" during the war.
