This record group contains papers and projects created by students as part of their coursework, such as honors theses and capstone papers.

This collection consists of files containing newspaper articles, history essays and writing, and photographs concerning Native American land, battles with colonial settlers, prominent figures, and forts in Rockbridge County. Many materials describe the Shawnee Tribe and their presence and relationship with settlers in Kerrs Creek, Abbs' Valley, Balcony Falls, and Hayes Creek Mound. Some materials concern the death of Chief Cornstalk, also known as Hokoleskwa, and the Kerrs Creek Massacre.

This file consists of two copies of a land grant for one hundred acres in Rockbridge County near Buffalo Creek to John Peoples, as well as a note concerning the contents of the land grants from a Peoples family descendant.

This collection consists of a photograph of the Andrew Elder House and a copy of the photograph. The Andrew Elder House was later owned by the Armentrout Family and is near Lake Robertson in Rockbridge County, Virginia.

This collection consists of two photographs of Rice Hotinger's home in Kerr's Creek, Virginia. One image includes vintage cars and chickens.

One original photograph, as well two copies of a different photographs of the Highland Belle School in Lexington, VA circa 1938. The children pictured are identified on the back of each image. This collection consists of three scrapbooks and sets of photographs taken by Raymond J. Kirby. The scrapbooks contain photographs and newspaper clippings related to the flooding that occurred as a result of Hurricane Camille in August 1969. The photographs document damage from both Rockbridge and Nelson Counties and the City of Lexington. The collection also includes approximately 170 photographs of the construction of the Route 11 corridor bypass around Lexington, Virginia.
