A.M., Randolph-Macon College, 1891; Ph.D., John Hopkins, 1905. Professor of romance languages, W&L, 1910-1933; assistant dean of the university, W&L, 1920-31. See Who's Who, 1928-29. Author of A Study of the Magic Elements in the Romans d' Aventure and the Romans Bretons which W&L has in general circulation and faculty publications.

This file contains mostly letters written by Robert Sanders concerning his son Stuart's college applications. He wrote to the presidents at the University of Florida and at Washington and Lee University, where Stuart's broter was a student. Washington and Lee granted Stuart a tentative place on their list of students, requiring he complete more credits in summer school. Upon completion of summer school at The McCallie School, Stuart was admitted officially to Washington and Lee.
