This collection is a narrative written by John Newton Lyle, who was a member of the Liberty Hall Volunteers and Stonewall Jackson Brigade during the American Civil War. Includes 'Sketches found in a Confederate veterans's desk' (1913) and an undated supplement 'Stonewall Jackson's Guard'.

This collection consists of three copies of a silver gelatin photograph taken on Washington and Lee University's campus of a reunion of members of the Liberty Hall Volunteers who survived the Civil War. The original photograph was taken July 14, 1910.
