James Monroe Papers
This collection includes the appointment, July 29, 1800, of John Bowyer, Andrew Reid, and John Caruthers as presidential electors; proclamation, March 16, 1802, by Gov. Monroe authorizing the meeting house outside Lexington, Va. as a proper place for holding court (2 copies); and U.S. land grant of 160 acres, April 2, 1818, to Aaron Sanford. All of these documents are signed by Monroe.
Millboro and Kerr's Creek Turnpike Company records
This collection consists of an 1836 letter to Stockholders from the company's president, Alexander T. Barclay, and a report signed John C. Bowyer, dated 1838 December 5, to the Board of Public Works. Both of these documents are signed by the authors.
Otis Bowyer Letter
In this letter dated September 6, 1938 from Baird, Texas, Otis Bowyer writes to T. Bowyer Campbell in Notre Dame, Indiana giving a description of the careers of Gen. John Bowyer, T. Bowyer Campbell's great great grandfather, and of his nephew, John Bowyer.
